- it serves as a forum for international monetary co-operation;
- it acts as an agent or trustee in the execution of various international financial agreements; and
- it carries out research and issues publications on monetary and economic subjects

The head office is here in Basel, Switzerland and there are two representative offices: in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and in Mexico City.

As the head of the audit and accounts reconciliation committee,i have just discovered the sum of USD18,000,000.00 (eighteen million United  States Dollars)  only in your favor.The fund is currently under my management and i am the only person who has this information about the existence of your fund in this bank.

Because of my interest in this particular transaction,i have decided to handle it informally by email alone,and you must remember that this fund originated from Africa hence,there are a lot of false claims to it from Africa.You must therefore discontinue forthwith,all communications from people in Africa as that will cost you this fund.

You must get back to me immediately with evidence that you are the real beneficiary of this fund.This is to avoid payment to a wrong claimant.
